The year 2023 is another election period everyone is looking up to in seeing who become the next president, the succession schemes which most often are usually the machinations of the incumbent president as African Leaders poised to do.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will decide who replaces him as president in 2023 and not himself.

He stated this on Thursday while fielding questions from journalists on Arise TV.

“About succession, what this administration can do is to make sure APC lasts beyond this administration.

“We have started registration from ward to local government and to the state level. That way, the APC can know the number of members they have state by state and local government by local government so that by the time this administration goes, the legacy can continue.

“And that is the best way to go for the party and the country,” Buhari said.

The president also revealed he will be retiring to his farm in Daura, Katsina State when his second term elapses.
