EKITI AGOG AS EBENEZER OJO, SIBLINGS BURIES MUM WITH EMOTIONAL TRIBUTES

Giving a befitting interment celebrations to one's aged parent is one of answered prayers from them while alive, this gives hope of a unifying memories left behind by the parents whose celebrations are to be reckoned with. 

Ebenezer Olabode Ojo, An administrative officer of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), her sister Deborah Ojo and the entire family members last weekend gave a glorious farewell to their matriarch, late Mrs Modupe Ojo (nee Akinyemi) in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The memorable event began with service of songs at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Omole in Road 7, Ile-Ife, Osun State on Wednesday September 23, 2026, while the corpse left Ile-Ife for Ikere Ekiti for burial on Thursday with the reception  at Ifeloju Cooperative Hall in OAU on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Late Mrs Ojo who slept in Lord on July 4, 2026 at the age of 78 was interred  amidst emotional tributes from  families, friends, associates and religious leaders.

 

Ebenezer, in his tribute during the reception held Ifeloju Cooperative Hall in OAU, said himself, sibling and other family members would forever remember their late mum, stressing that the deceased thought them the  importance of good educational background, discipline and contentment even though it was tough at the time.

“I used to be a truant with some of my school mates in primary school, playing football was only the thing I focused on because I thought I would be a professional footballer. But the discipline my mum inculcated  in and my friends  made us become what we are today.

Ojo, while stating that he inherited many traits from his late mother, said she thought him to love God.

Also, Deborah Ojo, described her late mum as a loving and caring mother, noting that she was  very accommodating

In his sermon at the occasion, the Bishop Asiwaju Oluseye, urged the congregation to always remember that our time on earth is limited.

 

He called on them to see their attendance at the burial service as another opportunity for them to reflect on their lives and their relationship with God.

He extolled the virtues of the late Madam Modupe Ojo, describing her as a devouted Christian while on earth.

Pastor Matthew Adeniyi said the late matriarch lived a life of dedication and service to God before her transition to heaven, urging the children, and entire family to remain in unity and emulate the worthy life of the deceased.

Other clergies in attendance were: Rev Titilola Abayomi, Pastor Mathew Olaniyan and host of others.

The entire OAU campus was enveloped with funfare as great academias and prominent Nigerians came to honour the departed and celebrate the late matriarchs impactful life. They all wish her smooth journey to the heaven.
