The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Awori Land, Aare Hon. Olayiwola Taiwo, has called on the people of Yewa-Awori to shun rancour, division and disunity ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, urging them to unite behind the aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
Taiwo made the call at the Ogun West Professionals’ Annual General Meeting held at the Police Multipurpose Hall, Boulevard, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The meeting, organised with the theme, “Building a Greater Ogun State Through Visionary Leadership and Inclusive Development,” brought together professionals and stakeholders from across Ogun West.
Speaking at the event, Taiwo reiterated his commitment to supporting every legitimate effort aimed at securing victory for Senator Adeola in the 2027 governorship election.
“It is our turn to lead Ogun State, and no stone should be left unturned,” he affirmed.
According to him, the longstanding agitation for Ogun West to produce the next governor of the state should serve as a rallying point for the people of the senatorial district rather than a source of division.
Taiwo described Senator Adeola as the “Joshua of our time,” drawing an analogy from the biblical account of Joshua, who succeeded Moses as leader of the Israelites.
“Recall that the agitation for the Ogun West sector of the state to emerge as governor has been a long-time struggle, but I am glad that the Joshua of our time has come,” he said.
He urged political leaders, professionals, youths, women and other stakeholders across Ogun West to work together towards achieving the common goal of producing one of their own as governor of the Gateway Stapte.
Taiwo stressed that unity across the different strata of Ogun West would be crucial to breaking what he described as the longstanding political jinx and securing the desired victory in 2027.
He added that the emergence of an Ogun West governor, in his view, would provide an opportunity for better leadership, inclusive governance and accelerated development across the state.
