President Tinubu calls Governor Adeleke, describing re-election as proof democracy is flourishing under APC administration.ABUJA (iexclusivenews)—President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Osun State governor.
Tinubu said the victory confirmed the confidence the people of Osun have in the Incumbent. The President stated that he called Adeleke earlier on Sunday to offer his congratulations.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said: “I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him.”
He wished Adeleke success in the next four years and urged him to unite the people of the state for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices made at the election.
The president saluted the courage and discipline of the other contestants, saying their participation deepened and enriched Nigeria’s democratic culture. He described the outcome as a reflection of the will of the people and a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish.
The president also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
Adeleke of the Accord Party defeated APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji with 511,067 votes to 444,815 in the August 15 poll. He was declared the winner early on Sunday morning.
The president’s message closes the chapter on the closely watched Osun contest with a call for unity and continued democratic progress.
