OBA ELETU-ASHOROTALAYA LAUDS GOV ABIODUN FOR AWARDING ITELE ROAD REHABILITATION

The Onitele of Itele-Otta Awori Kingdom, Oba Dr. Ademola Eletu-Ashorotalaya, Ashorotalaya I, has expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for awarding the contract for the immediate rehabilitation of the Itele Road, stretching from Ayobo Bridge.

The traditional ruler described the development as a significant intervention and a demonstration of the state government’s responsiveness to the yearnings and aspirations of residents of Itele-Otta and surrounding communities.

Oba Eletu-Ashorotalaya said the decision to commence the rehabilitation of the road would bring considerable relief to thousands of residents, motorists, commercial transport operators, traders, artisans, students and other road users who depend on the route for their daily activities.

According to the monarch, the Itele Road is not merely a local access road but an important transportation link serving a rapidly developing population and connecting several communities within the Itele-Otta axis to other parts of Ogun State and neighbouring areas.

He noted that the deteriorating condition of the road had, over time, created difficulties for commuters, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall, while also affecting the movement of goods and services and increasing transportation challenges for residents.

The Onitele therefore described the governor's intervention as timely, commendable and people-oriented, expressing confidence that the rehabilitation would have a positive impact on the social and economic life of the community.

The monarch emphasised that quality road infrastructure is fundamental to grassroots economic development, stressing that improved roads would make it easier for farmers, traders, artisans, business owners and other entrepreneurs to transport their goods and services.

He said the rehabilitation would also improve access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets, workplaces and other essential services within the community.

“Good roads are critical to the development of any community. When roads are motorable, businesses thrive, transportation becomes easier, property values improve and people can move freely and safely,” the monarch noted.

Oba Eletu-Ashorotalaya commended Governor Abiodun for what he described as his administration's attention to infrastructure development across the state, particularly projects capable of directly improving the quality of life of residents at the grassroots.

Call for Quality and Timely Execution

While expressing gratitude for the award of the contract, the Onitele urged the contractor handling the project to ensure that the rehabilitation work meets the required engineering standards.

He called for proper drainage infrastructure, adequate attention to erosion-prone sections and the use of durable materials capable of withstanding the heavy traffic and weather conditions associated with the area.

The traditional ruler also appealed for the project to be executed within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that residents are eagerly looking forward to the completion of the rehabilitation.

He further called on residents, community leaders, transport operators and other stakeholders to cooperate with the contractor and government agencies throughout the construction period.

According to him, community cooperation will be essential to ensuring that the project is completed successfully and delivers the expected benefits.

Oba Eletu-Ashorotalaya reaffirmed the commitment of the Itele-Otta traditional institution to supporting government initiatives aimed at promoting development, peace and prosperity across the community.

He expressed confidence that the rehabilitation of the Itele Road would strengthen economic activities and further position Itele-Otta as an attractive location for investment and business development.

The monarch consequently thanked Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for listening to the people and taking decisive action on an infrastructure concern that has remained important to the residents of the area.

He prayed for continued wisdom and success for the governor and his administration, while expressing optimism that more developmental projects would be attracted to Itele-Otta and other communities within the Awori axis.

The Onitele concluded by assuring the Ogun State Government of the traditional institution's continued partnership and support in the collective pursuit of sustainable development and improved welfare for the people.
