Interswitch Named Among CNBC and Statista's World's Top Fintech Companies for Second Consecutive Year

Lagos, Nigeria – July 23, 2026: Interswitch, one of Africa's leading integrated payments and digital commerce companies, has been named among the CNBC and Statista World's Top Fintech Companies for the second consecutive year, earning recognition in the Payments category of the prestigious 2026 global ranking.

The recognition reinforces Interswitch's position as one of the companies advancing digital payments through resilient infrastructure, trusted payment solutions, and sustained innovation across Africa. It also places the company among a select group of African fintechs recognised globally for their contribution to the future of financial services.

Compiled by CNBC in partnership with global market research firm Statista, the annual ranking recognises 500 of the world's leading fintech companies across nine market segments, following a comprehensive assessment of more than 3,500 eligible firms worldwide. Companies were evaluated using independent research, industry data, market performance, product innovation, and business impact.

The recognition reflects more than two decades of Interswitch's commitment to building trusted payment infrastructure that enables individuals, businesses, financial institutions, governments, and developers to participate confidently in an increasingly digital economy.

Commenting on the recognition, Mitchell Elegbe, Founder and Group Managing Director/CEO, Interswitch Group, said:

"Being recognised once again among the world's leading fintech companies is an affirmation of the consistency of our vision and the resilience of the infrastructure we have built over the years. At Interswitch, we remain focused on developing payment and digital commerce solutions that solve real problems, create opportunities for businesses to grow, and expand access to financial services across Africa. This recognition belongs to every member of our team, our customers, partners, and stakeholders who continue to believe in and contribute to that vision."

For more than two decades, Interswitch has played a defining role in shaping Africa's digital payments landscape, providing the infrastructure that powers secure, reliable, and seamless financial transactions across multiple channels.

Its technology supports payment switching, digital banking, card services, merchant acquiring, government collections, digital commerce, and enterprise payment solutions, while its flagship products and platforms, including Verve, Quickteller, and a broad suite of payment infrastructure services, continue to enable millions of transactions daily across the continent.

Reflecting on what the recognition represents for Interswitch's continued evolution and long-term commitment to Africa's digital economy, Cherry Eromosele, Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications, Interswitch Group, said:

"This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects sustained impact over time. At Interswitch, we have remained focused on building trusted infrastructure that people and businesses can rely on every day. As Africa's digital economy continues to evolve, we will continue investing in the technologies and partnerships that make commerce simpler, more secure, and more inclusive."

Over the past year, Interswitch has continued to strengthen the resilience and scalability of its infrastructure, expand platform capabilities, deepen strategic partnerships, and enhance the security of its payment ecosystem to support the evolving needs of customers and the broader financial services ecosystem.

As digital payments continue to accelerate economic participation and financial inclusion across Africa, Interswitch remains committed to building the trusted infrastructure and innovative payment technologies that will power the continent's next phase of digital growth.
