COWA SPEARHEADS TREE-PLANTING INITIATIVE TO PROMOTE CLIMATE CHANGE AWARENESS AT NIGER/KOGI AREA COMMAND

The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Niger/Kogi Area Command Chapter, has successfully spearheaded a tree-planting initiative aimed at promoting climate change awareness within the Command.

The event, which took place at the barracks behind the Command—an area advantageous to residents—underscores COWA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the creation of a healthier ecosystem. The initiative also serves to sensitize officers and the barracks community on the importance of tree planting in combating climate change and preserving the environment.

In attendance were the COWA Chairperson, Hajia Fatima Abdulkadir Umar, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Muhammad Sani Umar, mni, as well as other senior officers of the Command.

The exercise was carried out successfully and recorded active participation from officers, with the event proceeding smoothly without any hitches.

COWA remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and community development within the Nigeria Customs Service.
