In the sure business of road traffic management, Ogun State has really thrives in major transformation from what it used to be to the modern methodical means of traffic control and enforcement. 

In its endeavour to ensure effective traffic management and free flow of traffic on 24hr basis on Ogun 27 major traffic corridors, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, has rolled out its operation guidelines for the Eid-el-Fitr Special Operation Schedule.

The exercise, according to a release from the office of the most senior TRACE Commander, and who is also in charge of the day to day administration and schedule of duty of the agency, Cmdr. Elias Omonayajo commenced on Monday,16th March, 2026, through Friday, 27th March, 2026.

Furthermore, all Eid Praying Grounds in the twenty (20) local government areas of the state would also be strategically manned by TRACE operatives for traffic control and parking management to ensure orderliness at both the entry and exit points of the Praying Grounds.

Nevertheless, the Special Patrol Operation Order would focus on increased patrol visibility, strategic deployment of rescue and emergency teams, as well as intensified public advocacy campaigns, including press releases to guide the general public, before, during and after the sallah celebrations.

In addition, the activity would involve monitoring of motorists and other road users, inclusive of high and low capacity vehicles, more so that the period will witness increase in human and vehicular movement, for safety of lives and property to be guaranteed on Ogun 27 major traffic corridors, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; Interchange-Sagamu-Ijebu/Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway; Sango/Ota-Atan-Owode-Idiroko Highway; Atan-Lusada-Agbara-Badagry Highway; Abeokuta-Kobape-Siun-Interchange Expressway; Abeokuta-Ewekoro-Ifo-Sango/Ota Expressway; Rounder-Abeokuta-Olorunda-Ayetoro-Imeko-Ilara Border amongst others.

And where road construction and re-construction are ongoing along the Ogun 27 major traffic corridors, motorists are enjoined to drive cautiously, be considerate and concentrate as they play such routes. However, TRACE operatives would be on ground to regulate traffic and ensure orderliness along such route.

Moreover, the exercise would also involve synergy with other safety and security agencies in the state, all road users through the TRACE Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative, TRACE Emergency Traffic Service and the Community Based Traffic Management Scheme, (TRACE MAYORS), against the backdrop that safety on our roads is a shared responsibility.

The release further directs Field Commanders to ensure that TRACE operatives are presentable, civil, professional, fair and firm, where and when the need arises, in the discharge of their duties, for the safety of the general public, particularly the motoring public.

While felicitating the Muslim Ummah, and indeed all road users, Cmdr. Omonayajo admonish them not to drink and drive, avoid excessive speed and night travel, plan their journey, as well as observe strict adherence to basic traffic rules and regulations because any vehicle contravened for any traffic infraction(s) during the celebrations would not be released until Monday, 30th March, 2026, when TRACE would have ended her Special Eid-el-Fitr Operation Order.
