2025 OLOTA CUP: EMBRACE SPORTS FOR UNITY AND SELF DISCOVERY,OLOTA CHARGES STUDENTS

 After the overall excitements that greeted the opening ceremony of the year 2025 football competition, The much anticipated 2024/2025 edition of the Olota Cup commenced on Monday, November 24, 2025, with a colourful opening ceremony that underscored the Awori Kingdom’s enduring commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots sports development.


The ceremony, held at the Bells University Stadium, Ota, Ogun State, drew a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, academic leaders, security chiefs and sports enthusiasts from across the region.



His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, Ph.D., the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Otta Awori Kingdom, officially declared the tournament open. In his welcome address, Kabiyesi commended the organising committee, led by Mr. Olaniyi Akinbode, CEO and Publisher of Travellers Network Magazine for their dedication to promoting sports through the twin sports competititions of Olota Cup and Olota Marathon.

 Kabiyesi charged participating schools to embrace the tournament not merely as a competition, but as a platform to foster unity, discover talent and inspire future careers in football. He stressed the need for discipline, professionalism and excellence, describing them as essential virtues for young athletes.

Prominent personalities at the opening ceremony include, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, Vice Chancellor, Bells University, ACP Olusola Oladele, Ota Area Commander, Mr. Taiwo, representing Oba (Barr.) Samuel Ojugbele, Onilogbo of Ilogbo Asowo, Oba Clement Akinyemi, Ajana of Ijana Ota, Aare Surv. Segun Osifeso (FNIS), Aare Atunluse of Aworiland, Mr. Lamidi Tafa, Registrar, Bells University, Prince Jamiu Komolafe, Baale of Ipamesan Oke-Ota

The opening Match Results: Female Category: Scholars School 0 – 2 Khafifat School, Male Category: Scholars School 0 – 2 Bells School

Special appreciation was extended to His Majesty, the Olota for his visionary leadership and sustained support for sports as a strategic tool for community development, youth engagement and talent discovery.

With this successful kickoff, the Olota Cup continues to strengthen its reputation as a unifying symbol and a beacon of opportunity for young people across Aworiland.
