Nigerian Super Eagles and Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen, who has been on red-hot top form scored two great goals against Bodo/Glimt in yesterday’s European Champions league, to ensure that his team Galatasaray record a second consecutive victories in the ongoing 2025 Champions League.
Osimhen who netted a hat trick to help Nigeria to reach the world cup playoffs, scored the two goals in his world-class display against Bodo/Glimt, who experiencing the powerful energy of the tireless striker.
The former African footballer of the year, as expected led his team to “terrorize” their opponent with outstanding performance which resulted in two superb goals in the first-half. Gangling and unstoppable Osimhen first netted as early as the third minutes of the first half. He also unleashed another goal in the thirty-,three minutes before the break.
Osimhen’s goals were historic , as it opened a new chapter for him in the club’s history as the first player in Galatasaray to net in seven consecutive matches in European major competitions. With this pacesetting record, he has set aside the former record established by Burak Yilmaz with six goals, while Osimhen has seven goals and still counting. Yilmaz’s record was set during the October 2012 and March 2013 season.
However, when Galatasaray were certain for victory with Osimhen’s two goals, superb-sub, Andreas Helmersen came in to net a consolation goal for the Norwegian champions, who are yet to record a victory in this year’s Champion league games.
Basking on their inspiring defeat of English Champions Liverpool, in their last encounter before the international break, which lifted them to the fourteenth position from their former twenty-first position, the Okan Buruk’s team, came into the game with high spirits. They didn’t waste time to capture the upsetting early lead when Osimhen took massive advantage of Mario Lemina’s pass to slot in the first goal. The goal boosted the Nigerian Super Eagles player to go on to score his second goal of the game, which makes it his fifth in this year’s Champions league. The goal came as a result of a very poor back pass from Fredrik Bjorkan, and smart Osimhen capitalized on the opportunity dribbled Halkin the Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper and put the ball into the net. The goal fired up the exciting night which kept crowd cheering endlessly.
The former Italian seria A league and Napoli highest goal scorer, would have made it a hat trick as he did for his county, Nigeria against Benin Republic, on October 14th, if he had converted all the other chances he had in the game. Nonwithstanding, he had an excellent outing in the game which earned him two goals and the deserved man of the match
Having not been able to score the third goal, his earthquaking pressure on Bodo/Glimt defenders, created the chance for his teammate Yunus Akgun to net the third goal for Galatasaray. The Turkish Champion smiled home with worthy victory. But the visiting Norwegian Champions totally were disappointed with the unfavourable outcome of the match. They went home without any point and have to remain on the two points, they earned earlier from their two draws in their last three matches.
