The tumultuous journey to the throne of Ibadanland has finally reached its destination, and in a remarkable twist of fate, the man who endured a cascade of challenges and conspiracies now wears the crown. Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, born in 1944, has ascended as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan, a testament to the adage that destiny cannot be denied. This is not just the enthronement of a king; it is a powerful narrative of resilience, legal triumph, and the will of the people.
The path to this moment was fraught with obstacles, a period marked by intense political maneuvering and legal battles. During the reign of the late Olubadan Adetunji Aje Ogunguniso, a storm brewed within the Olubadan-in-Council. Reports of intimidation and conspiracy from some of his colleagues were a constant feature of the local political landscape. Yet, through it all, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja stood firm, his focus unwavering on the ancient traditions and laws that govern the succession to the throne.
