Saturday, July 26th, 2025, will remain unforgettable in the history of the Special Marshals in RS2.1, Lagos, as the newly elected state executives organized a remarkable event to honour their predecessors and key stakeholders. The occasion, themed “End of Tenure and Awards Ceremony,” was held to celebrate the immediate past state executives, past unit coordinators, veteran special marshals aged 70 and above, and supportive individuals and organizations who significantly contributed to the progress of the Special Marshals over the last four years.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of Evergreen Awards to deserving individuals and corporate organizations for their support to the past administration. The awards symbolized appreciation for the dedication, selfless service, and invaluable contributions that strengthened the operations of Special Marshals in Lagos State.
Among the dignitaries in attendance was the Corps CC SDER, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, who was visibly impressed by the uniqueness and coordination of the programme. She expressed admiration for the initiative and suggested that similar ceremonies should be replicated at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja.
Also present was the Sector Commander of RS2.1 Lagos, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, who graced the event with his management team. In his remarks, he stated, “I have always regarded Special Marshals as men and women of integrity, but today’s event has revealed them to be men and women of high tibre and calibre.”
For many of the veteran Special Marshals and immediate past unit coordinators, the ceremony was emotional and historic. It marked the first time an administration in Lagos would formally recognize and reward the efforts of the past Unit Coordinators — a gesture that left them visibly joyful and deeply honoured.
Prominent attendees included the Lagos State Sector Commander of FRSC,CC Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat,a former National Coordinator of Special Marshals in Nigeria; Aare Bisi Lawal,the Corps CC SDER,Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno; the Managing Director of Cakasa Nigeria Company Limited,CHIEF BARNABAS O. OLISE; and a former National Treasurer, Prince Adenekan, who was represented by renowned journalist, Mr.Nurudeen Adegbenro Adenekan. Other notable figures were the Immediate past zonal coordinator for RS2 (Lagos & Ogun),Elder Adeniyi,Sector Head of Operations, DCC Lukas Oguntade, and the Sector Admin, DCC Obi, representative of the Zonal Commanding Officer for RS2, CRC Ayoola,among others.
In his welcome address, the newly elected State Coordinator, SM (Dr.) Olabisi O. Dennis, reiterated that the awards initiative was originally conceived by the immediate past administration. The new state executive chose to uphold the vision in the spirit of continuity, respect, and integrity. He paid special tribute to the immediate past State Coordinator and newly elected Zonal Coordinator, SM Olusegun Akintan, commending his exemplary leadership and the solid foundation he laid for continued growth.
Dr. Dennis emphasized that the event was more than just recognition — it was a reaffirmation that in the Special Marshals, hard work, loyalty, and service are not only appreciated but rewarded. He concluded by urging all marshals to let the celebration of the past inspire a stronger commitment to future excellence.
It was, indeed, an evening of honour, unity, and renewed vision — a celebration that reinforced the noble ideals of service and dedication that define the Lagos Special Marshals.
