The Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday upheld the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the September 21 gubernatorial in the state.
The tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Barr Asue Ighodalo, seeking the nullification of the election that produced Okpebholo for lacking in merit.
Ighodalo and the PDP argued that the governorship poll was marred with over voting and other irregularities including non-adherence to the electoral guidelines.
The tribunal had earlier dismissed the petitions filed by Accord Party and its candidate, and Action Alliance for want of merit.
In a unanimous decision by a three-member panel, the tribunal said it found no reason to nullify the outcome of the governorship poll that produced Okpebholo as winner.
While delivering the lead judgement, Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Wilfred Kpochi, dismissed petitions as lacking in merit.
