Former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has denied news of his rumoured death, in a statement signed by Adeyeye E. Ajayi mni, Personal Aide to General Gowon, it reads in part as cited on NTA Facebook page;
” I am still around and well. I am not in a hurry” –

There were speculations in a section of the social media that Gowon passed on aged 89.
