The former governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has been elected the Senate President of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Akpabio, the immediate past minister of the Niger-Delta,
defeated his arch rival, Senator Abdul-azeez Yari, a former governor of
Zamfara State
Akpabio has been nominated by President Tinubu and supported by the All Progressive Congress (APC).
