Ogun Police Arrest Suspected 27 Year-Old Woman kidnapper , Rescues Teenage Victim

 


A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly kidnapping a girl in Agbara, the state Police Command stated.

The suspect, Mariam Ayila, according to the Police, is not new in the criminal act; she was said to had, a day previous to her arrest, on December 19, at Itele-Otta area of the state, kidnapped a young girl, and collected ransome paid to her before setting the victim free.

Apparently overwhelmed by the success of the earlier adventure, the suspect, the following day, December 20, went on another one, this time in Agbara, which exposed her.

She was said to had kidnapped 13-year old
Sofiat Yusau and took her into captivity in Atan-Otta, where nemesis eventually caught up with her.

Disclosing how the suspect was arrested, Ogun State Police spokesman (PPRO), SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement that, “following a report lodged at the Agbara Divisional Police Headquarters by one Ismail Yusau, who reported that, he sent his daughter on an errand to Agbara market at about 11:00am on the said day, only to receive a strange call some hours after from an unknown person, who informed him that his daughter had been kidnapped, and that if he didn’t send the sum of N250,000 ransome, he will never set his eyes on the girl again”.

Given this complaint, Oyeyemi said, “the DPO, CSP Abiodun Salau, mobilized his crack detectives, who embarked on a technical and intelligence based investigation”.

He said that, efforts the Policemen yielded positive result when the suspect was traced to her hideout at Atan-Otta area of the state, where she was promptly arrested and the little girl rescued unhurt.


“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had earlier kidnapped a young girl at Itele-Otta area of the state a day previous, being December 19, and ransome paid to her before she released her victim”.

Meanwhile, according to the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be handed over to the Anti kidnapping Unit of the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
