ICT:Samsung Or Apple: What Appeals Most To Generation Z, And How They Can Be Explained?

 BY  Peace Udochi AGOHA

Firstly, I will explain who this generation is. Generation Z comprises of the first generation who never live without the Internet.

They expect to inherit from previous generations an onerous legacy of a world in crisis over climate change inequity and social generation.

They were born in 1997 or after, and they are also on track to be the most educated generation.

They are the activist generation standing for what they believe in, they are bound to increase the populated network of knowledge.

They are hyper-focused on the bigger issues in the society as opposed to just what is happening in the community.

From a survey, it has been confirmed that the smartphone primarily used by generation Z is iPhone.

Do you know that according to statistics from the past years, Samsung has had larger numbers of sales than iPhones?

Samsung Or Apple: A Look At What Appeals Most To Generation Z, And How They Can Be Explained?

Below are the sales of iPhone and Samsung over the years;

SAMSUNG IPHONE YEAR (million)
Amazingly among the whole generation, generation Z has always had the highest percentage of iPhone users in the past years than Samsung.

52% of Generation Z uses iPhone, 26% use Samsung, 11% use other android smartphones, 4% use other smartphones and 7% do not have smartphones.

It has been documented that iPhone has seen at least 190 million annual shipments each year since 2014.

But guess what, it was recorded that in 2021 Samsung took the top spot for smartphone shipment. But after further survey, it was recorded that about 45% – 51% of generation Z purchased the iPhone, and more of the millennials purchased the Samsung.

Did you know that the US Generation Z consumers were more likely to use iPhones more than any other device, compared to Millennials, and generation X? Samsung came at the second level of most used types of smartphones with a rate of 30% and iPhone with the rate of 52%.

From a data, 7,000 teens polled in the semi-annual Piper Sandler survey, which says 88% of teens in the US are using an iPhone.

What’s more, 90% of the polled teens say their next phone will be an iPhone as well.

As pointed out in the survey, both of these are at an all-time high for the polled group.

That means 1 in 10 teens with an Android phone is certainly suffering from ‘green bubble’ dismissal.

Now the question is why do these generations prefer iPhone over Samsung?

Below are some of the reasons why iPhone is preferable

RESALE VALUE
Yes, iPhones do hold a better resale value in the long run. This is because all their phones are updated to apples latest IOS versions for at least five years since the year that particular phone was produced which makes the seller sells the phone at a reasonable price after use, but the fact is android smartphones depreciate much faster than iPhone.

So you can buy an iPhone 13 this year and be guaranteed that it will still have its latest version of iOS in 2026.

CONNECTIVITY

Its app collection is agreeably better. It provides more user-friendly experience, Provides more user-friendly experience.

Using an Android smartphone is a little bit more complex than using an iPhone, and other types of smartphones often seem to be a little bit less effective at performing essential tasks than the iPhone which makes it easy to use.

HAVE EXTREME SECURITY

Yes! One of the most real things about apple is the fact that due to its tough review, it doesn’t release its source code to app developers, and the owners of iPhones and iPads can’t easily modify the code on their phones themselves.

This makes it more difficult for hackers to find vulnerabilities on iOS-powered devices.

Another reason is that it is more durable, and because of its durability if there happens to be any damage it is easier to fix than Samsung.

And also, these generations are amazed by the interconnectivity between different apple products which makes it cool and very easy to use
