Professor Banji Akintola, a leader of the Yoruba self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua, has said he would support the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Professor Akintola was asked a question by a journalist working with Punch if he will support the candidacy of Tinubu? Prof. Akintola said,
“… I was asked to bring somebody from Yorubaland to be President of Nigeria, of course, I would go for Bola Tinubu, but the time is not right. People are killing our people in large numbers.”

The Prof. is a staunch advocate for the actualization of a Yoruba nation. But it came as a surprise that he also said that he would have chosen Tinubu among other politicians in the entire South West, not the wrong timing. This is a signal that Tinubu is respected by him probably because of his achievements in politics not because of their relationship.
Tinubu has not been seen in the open supporting the Yoruba nation agenda which makes many people surprised about the Prof’s support for him. However, Nigerians are ready to vote for the best candidate that can change the narrative in the country. 2023 is already pregnant and all the presidential candidates of the political parties in the country are getting set to present their workable Manifestos to Nigerians.
