The Chairman, Trade Union Congress, (TUC) in Kogi State, Comrade Ranti Ojo, says Nigeria is seriously shrinking to the dark era and needs help to avoid total collapse.

Comrade Ojo, who disclosed this on Sunday, while speaking on the 2022 Workers Day with the theme” Labour, politics, and quest for good governance and development in Nigeria”, said the major loss of confidence about Nigeria democracy today is the inability of the present administration to curtail problems of corruption and misappropriation of public funds in the society.

Making reference to Thomas Hobbes State of nature which made life brutish, nasty and shot, Ojo said it has become an unpardonable circumstance that citizens of Nigeria have become foreigners in their own country.

“This theme is apt, considering the current socio-Political and economic conditions of Nigeria as well as our political journey and preparedness towards 2023 general elections.

“The major loss of confidence about our democracy is the inability of Government to curtail problems of corruption and misappropriation of public funds or resources in the Nigerian Society.

“Another factor is the issue of insecurity that are prevalent and government is totally handicap, because lives and properties are being lost on daily basis as socio-political and economic environment we found ourselves of recent are no longer safe for investment.

“We no longer have control over our lands as criminals tagged as Fulani Herders have taken over the lands, and farmers can no longer go to farms. Things have really fallen apart, and the center cannot easily hold. Our leaders are so divided on Religious and Ethnic bigotry, which of course, makes it difficult to remedy the situation,” he averred.
