After All Doubts,Abiodun Wins APC's Gubernatorial Second Term Primary Election


Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Thursday polled 1680 votes to , emerge as winner of the All Progressive Congress(APC) gubernatorial primary election in the state

Abiodun clinched the party’s ticket after defeating five contestants who are: Remi Bakari, Biyi Otegbeye, Modele Sarafa- Yusuf, Owodunni Opayemi, Adekunle Akinlade, with 1,680 votes

Announcing the results at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, the Chairman of the primary election committee, Wale Ohu, said that obtained the party’s governorship ticket having secured the highest number of votes in the election.

Ohu explained that 1,180 delegates were accredited to vote in the primary election, while vote cast is 1,170, and valid votes were 1, 168, with 2 void votes, noting that with Abiodun’s 1,168 he became the governoship flag bearer of the party

“Having secured the highest number of vote cast he(Abiodun) is hereby declared governoship candidate of APC. He is to stand for APC governorship election in 2023” Ohu declared

Abiodun,.while addressing a large gathering of the party’s members and delegates at the event said that he was not surprised because the election result came as expected

He described the primary election which was monitored by the officials of the Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) led by the Director of Elections and Party Monitor, Mrs. Oyafunke Olanike, as free, fair and transparent

The governor, who urged the people of Ogun State especially the youth to shun violent, banditry and thuggery, said that state was not known for such vices, expressing confident that he would win the gubernatorial election in the state come 2023

“I want to thank the Almighty God for making this day possible who has indeed allow us to have a such a transparent free and fair process in this gubernatorial primary.”

“I want to thank the chairman of the and the governoship primary committee that have been sent from the national arm of the party for doing such a wonderful job i don’t think that a transparent process get any better than this, this is what we are known for in Ogun State this is who we are in Ogun State, violent, banditry thuggery, are alien to us in Ogun State and i am glad that we are changing that narrative.”

“Let me also assure you that those who will be my opponents in the general elections would be pleasantly surprised and have no choice than to join us in our Vision of “Building Our Future Together”. .
