War: Japan Objects As Russia Threatens Action

War: Japan kicks as Russia threatens action

Japan has said that any countermeasure by Russia against it in response to its earlier sanctions on Moscow would be “unacceptable.

Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Hirokazu Matsuno told a news conference Thursday, adding that Russia gave Tokyo no option but to impose those sections over its invasion of Ukraine.

“This whole situation stems from Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” Matsuno said, adding that any response that attempts to shift responsibility to Japan is extremely unjustified and unacceptable.

Japan’s remarks came after Russian Foreign Ministry official, Maria Zakharova said yesterday that her country was considering countermeasures against Tokyo.

Japan had earlier imposed a series of sanctions on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.

Zakharova warned that the government of Japan “is stoking anti-Russian hysteria in Japanese society.”

She further criticized Japan for “obediently following instructions received from across the ocean” and said Tokyo was undermining Russia-Japan relations.
