Joseph Wayas, the former president of the Senate, has died, according to The Witness.
Ben Ayade, the governor of Cross Rivers State, announced this on Thursday in Calabar, the state capital.
He was 81 years old.
Wayas, a politician from Cross River State, was said to have died in a London hospital in the early hours of Thursday after a long illness
Wayas was the third Senate President of Nigeria during the country’s second republic, serving from 1979 to 1983
