.Former President Obasanjo and TRACE officers

Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has advised the operatives of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps to remain focused and firm in their task of ensuring safety on roads, saying this is not an easy task.

He gave this advice while giving a Pep talk as a Special Guest of Honour, at the 6th Annual TRACE Corps Commanders’ conference, a human capacity development colloquium.

It is aimed at training and retraining  senior officers of the Corps, in order to enhance their capacity and capability, and it held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL, Abeokuta.

The former president who expressed delight at the performance of TRACE Corps and the management, urged them not to relent in instilling discipline on the motoring public.

He said,”The task of ensuring safety on our roads is not an easy one, to a greater extent in our clime, TRACE Corps’ operatives, nevertheless, should remain focused, firm and determined in the onerous task to change the narrative, when it comes to enforcing compliance to traffic rules and regulations, there by reducing fatality to serious, serious to minor and minor to none.”

Furthermore, Obasanjo tasked road users to be considerate of other users of the road because any trait of overbearing attitude, greed and high-handedness exhibited by a road user could affect thousands of others, there by exposing dependants to vagaries of life and living.

In his remarks, the TRACE Corps Commander/Chief Executive, Cdr. ‘Seni Ogunyemi, thanked Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for honouring TRACE Corps invitation and believe his rallying speech will instill more enthusiasm and boost the confidence of the operatives for effective service delivery.
