IMG_ORG_1633899273819

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Kwara State Chapter condemns in totality abuse of minors and a gender based  violence in Ganmo Community area of Kwara state. The committee learnt the  incidents happened in one Islamic School  named Misbahudeen around Ganmo area few days ago.

In a viral video, some male students were seen maltreating and malhandling a female student and a male student for reasons best known to them.

In a statement signed Afolabi Lukman
Idris Afees and made available to NAOSRE,  CDHR noted that during the course of investigation, it gathered that those students were punished on the authority of their teachers for attending birthday party of one of the seniors in the same Islamic School.
All attempts by the organization to reach the victims proof abortive. This incident is bad and condemnable. It is a typical case of gender based violence and child molestation as well as an abuse of privilege which need to be investigated.

CDHR however, calls on appropriate authority to rise up to this challenge, investigate whatever issues surrounding these molestations and appropriate sanctions and checks be put in place. The Kwara state government, the Nigerian Police Kwara state command, the Nigerian Security and  Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other relevant agencies should rise up against these inhuman treatments to prevent such abuses in future.

In addition, the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development and Kwara Board of Arabic Education should investigate, sanitise and sanction the Arabic school appropriately

CDHR remains the foremost human rights group in the state and we are committed to the course.
