GROWTECH – Simplifying Sustainable Agriculture leveraging technologies

SPONSORED

Growtech offers a simple solution plaguing the agriculture sector: efficient cultivation, distribution and logistics of crops and animals towards a guaranteed profitable end.

In our earlier research, while creating another farming entity, we discovered that most people have an interest in agriculture but many of them fail to succeed in making profitable operations of it. Among other reasons, agriculture remains an expensive practice with high risks ranging from pests, diseases and theft, to crop rot, high cultivation costs and routes to markets all leading toward multiple negative outcomes; wastage, high carbon emissions, chemical poisoning to the earth and our water supply and many more.

Thankfully, there have been lots of efforts by farmers, governments, organizations, entrepreneurs, communities and individuals to offer proactive solutions to these challenges as food security remains one of our greatest societal risks. However, with rising food costs, rising costs of cultivation and climate challenges, it is clear that more innovative solutions need to be deployed to support these efforts.

Growtech, created as a simple way for more people to engage in sustainable agriculture, offers a path towards a greener, healthier future, for all aspects there-in. Our platform, currently provides a simple access channel for individuals to participate in the creation of crops, animals and/or trees by selecting from our cultivation ‘Grow List’. These selections will be created to contribute to our agricultural ecosystem by deploying a series of geographically mapped, decentralized cultivation feature that targets areas based on their concentration/population count. Our methodology, not only engages Internet Computer Technologies (ICT) but also cultivation technologies researched and developed in-house to allow for a simpler structure which provides an all-round solution for both the cultivation and the environment.

Launched in May 2021, growtech has received requests from our Remote Farmers who are both residents in Nigeria as well as outside our borders, allowing anyone interested in engaging our model to do so, simply and efficiently.

HOW IT WORKS

After a cultivation request is received by a remote farmer who now clearly understands our process, we create a unique Farm page where they can check for relevant updates or refer to their list of items cultivated. Our focus being on cultivation, our remote farmers receive monthly updates on their cultivated items, stages of their growth as well as other information to keep them well aware of why their participation matters. We exist to make it more profitable to do so while adding value to the economy in which these crops, animals and trees will serve.

Growth Plans and Traction

Since our launch, we have received multiple requests for remote cultivations for a diverse list of items, partnerships and most recently cultivation requests for specific produce which we find interesting and are looking to explore in the coming future. We are now at a stage to increase our team strength and have hired new members to join our growing team and expand on our vision to create simpler access to sustainable agriculture: we are excited to share our work and vision with the Start-up ecosystem while contributing our voice to the world we all love and are working hard to protect.

Growtech is headquartered in Oha, Delta State with team operations in both Lagos and Delta State, we look forward to growing to other regions.
