How Ex AIG, Abubakar Manko Discovered The Enigma, Abba Kyari

How Ex AIG, Abubakar Manko Discovered The Enigma, Abba Kyari

DCP Abba Kyari needs little or no introduction when it comes to crime bursting.

He is the leader of the famous IGP IRT, an arm of the Nigeria Police Force with the mandate of reclaiming the society from the grip of hardened armed rubbers and kidnappers.

One of his major conquests amongst thousand others is the capture of the kidnap kingpin, Evans and since then, this brave easy-going young officer of the NPF has not looked back in making the society a safe haven for all.

For his bravery, he has been bestowed with several awards, gallands and unending rave reviews.

Worthy of note here is that about a year ago, the nation stood still in salute of this impeccable office when he was honoured by the national assembly.

Of course Maiduguri, Borno State born Kyari has been proudly decorated with the much sought-after, Classic Africa Merit Award (CAMA) for his contributions to nation building.

Like the harmattan wind, Kyari has blazed the trail in intelligent approach to fight against criminality, but we are all in awe of his success, no one seem to have traced his emergence on the scene.

His former boss, ex commissioner of Police, Lagos State and ex AIG Abubakar Manko has today cleared the air on how he discovered this ebullient refined gentleman.

Manko recounts his meeting Kyri thus:

“When I reported as a Commissioner of Police in Lagos, I made it a point of duty to always move around to assess situations. At the Anti-Robbery section, I discovered that a lot was happening that I didn’t like.

“I had one-on-one talks with all the officers there and I made up my mind to immediately reorganize. Kyari was the second-in-command of the section then, and was the quiet type, but after we interacted, I was wowed with his high level of intelligence.

“Then I said to myself, ‘this is the new OC of the Anti-Robbery section’.

“Some of the officers said he is too quiet, but I know a good officer when I see one. I knew he’d go places. And when he assumed command, he turned things around and we started getting results. It even came to a time when armed robbers were afraid to come and operate in Lagos, and those based there relocated entirely.

“It was due to the purposeful leadership of that young man that Lagos, at that time, was rid of criminals.” He concluded.
