A former London-based film director has been brutally murdered and dismembered by his parents in an honour killing over not getting married after he returned to his home country of Iran, police said, Daily Mail reports.

According to Daily Mail, the chopped up body of Babak Khorramdin, 47-year-old Iranian, was found in rubbish bags and a suitcase in the town of Ekbatan, western Tehran, on Sunday.

An argument had broken out between the father and son over Babak’s unmarried status, according to reports.

Mohammad Shahriari, the head of the Tehran Criminal Court, said the father confessed he anaesthetised his son, stabbed him, cut up his body and threw his remains in the rubbish.

Following his confession, both parents have been arrested while an investigation is carried out.
