OGUN HOLDS WORLD DANCE DAY CELEBRATION TOMORROW -Dr. Taiwo



The Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will tomorrow, Thursday,  April 29, 2021  join the rest of the world to celebrate World Dance Day.

          A release signed by the Commissioner in the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo indicated that, this year’s theme, “Dance As Healing Remedy" will hold at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta by 3:00pm. The release further informed that the day is created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, the main partner for the performing arts of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), to  promote all forms of  dance  worldwide,  createawareness on its values and bring  attention to governments, in order to get support for the dance community in promoting their artwork. 

According to the release, the celebration will feature dances from professionals across the State, presentation of awards to some dignitaries and command performance from the State chapter of the Guild of Nigerian Dance Practitioners (GONDP).

The release enjoined stakeholders in the State and general public to put on their dancing shoes to attend the celebration with strict compliance to COVID-19 protocols.
