As BoxingScene.com previously reported, former world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz is training hard for a planned return on a date in April, with Chris Arreola as the likely opponent.
In June 2019, Ruiz shocked the sport when he stopped Anthony Joshua in seven rounds to capture the WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO heavyweight titles.
Six months later, in December of the same year, Ruiz was outboxed over twelve rounds in his rematch with Joshua.
In sizing up that match, Ruiz is backing Fury to come away with the victory.
Ruiz was not overly impressed with Joshua's big win in December, when he knocked out mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.
"I think it's going to be an interesting fight. I fought Anthony Joshua, I haven't fought Tyson Fury; he has a strange style, but I see Fury winning that fight .... I wasn't impressed by Joshua's last fight, but he managed to get the job done," Ruiz said to Little Giant Boxing.
"Maybe Fury will beat him, it depends on how weird he moves, if he boxes... Anthony hasn't fought someone who boxes, who moves around like that. We will see what happens."
Since the Joshua rematch loss, Ruiz has hired trainer Eddy Reynoso and now works side by side with several world class fighters.
"It is a blessing to be here. It is very different from my last camp and where I trained, it is all concentration and dedication... you also have Canelo, Ryan (Garcia), all these motivations that help you grow; it's like a competition, we all want to be the best, but we help each other," Ruiz said.
"I can't wait to get back in the ring; I'm not going to say who I'm going to fight, but it will be an interesting fight."
