It was heartbreaking news for parents of the missing students as the news of their missing sons spread across the country.
Last week Friday, some unknown gunmen invaded a government science and technical secondary school in Kankara, Kastina state, and carted away hundreds of students
Days after the incident took place the governor of the Katsina State, Bello Masari moved to the Nigerian president and briefed him about the whole scene, and tabled that the kidnappers of the students have been negotiating with them.
A few days ago the Leader of the well-known deadly Nigeria militant, Abubakar Shekau released a four minutes video claiming that they are responsible for the abduction of the students.
But on Wednesday, 16th of December the governor of Katsina has refuted the claim by Boko Haram as he said on Channels Television that "The report we have and from the information available to us, this abduction was conducted and executed by local bandits that are known to all of us"
He reveals that the local bandits carried out the operation.
He said further that "With regards to this abduction, we have not seen yet any direct involvement of Boko Haram or ISWAP. However, we are watching the development"
Though the Armed Forces are still intensifying forces to secure the release of the abducted students.
We pray for their release.
