The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appealed to residents of Ikeja GRA to be patient with contractors on the ongoing road project in the area.
He noted that the project would be delivered in record time if the contractors and the government got maximum cooperation from all stakeholders.
Sanwo-Olu spoke on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting on the reconstruction and upgrading of Sono Arobiodu Street in Ikeja GRA.
The governor was represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye.
He said his administration was committed to the upgrading of road infrastructure across the state.
According to him, the 1,632 metres long road project is designed to improve transportation challenges and enhance socio-economic condition of the people.
Sanwo-Olu, however, decried the rate at which some residents vandalised road infrastructure and manholes, saying people opened the manholes and dumped refuse in them, while some stole the covers.
He urged residents to take ownership of the government infrastructure in their domain, saying the facilities were provided with taxpayers’ money and meant to improve the condition of living of residents.
