Please permit me to use this medium of open letter
to communicate this short message to Your Excellency. This is because
of the urgency it involves which bureaucratic delay may not favour.
It
gladdens my heart to know that we have a Governor who is also an
indigene of Ogun State, a good and reasonable politician, who believes
in God and himself.
I have been watching with keen interest
your activities with regards to treatment of stakeholders in fields of
human endeavour, especially the union transport workers in Ogun state.
You will note that the press has been my medium of communicating my
comments but I stopped at a time.
I am now back to the press and I want to be frankly open in my comment to the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun, as a person.
It
would be recalled that last time I wrote I mentioned former governor of
Ogun State, OGD’s crossing from PDP to APC and the inherent danger in
the cross-carpeting.
Without being immodest, Your Excellency, I
want to comment on the local government shadow election in all local
government councils in Ogun state.
I sincerely want to advise
Your Excellency to be careful of the political game, so as to avoid
counter-productive effort of choosing an aspirant as a local government
chairmanship candidate who pledge loyalty to you, but actually your
political enemy.
It is an opportunity for you
to be Number One Citizen of the state. You cannot do it alone; you need
loyal and genuine people around you to help in decision taking.
It
is equally necessary to avoid rushing into taking any decision that may
negatively affect you. The choice of loyal and genuine candidate for
local government chairmanship is very important, it must not be
compromised.
You may be shocked to hear that
some of these so-called loyal aspirants are sponsored by Senator
Olamilekan Yayi. It may be your political differences might have been
settled between both of you, but don't forget politicians would always
be politicians. The more you look, the less you see in everything, so
think twice before you start losing supporters.
Let
me go back to the issue of the National Union of Road Transport
Workers, NURTW, I strongly advise Your Excellency to overcome the
temptation of allowing indecency to happen during your tenure in Ogun
state.
Some governors have come and gone, I
mean both military and civilian. This is because they knew that they
came and would go. This same episode will also happen to all incumbent
governors. They have come and would go.
It
would be recalled that some of the past governors knew importance of
union of transport workers in Ogun State treated them with respect and
allowed them to operate without harassing them. Anybody who sit
somewhere and advise you to the contrary is not your friend. He is your
political enemy who does not love you a minute. This will be dawn on
every doubting Thomas within two to three years coming, mark my words.
May
I bring to your notice that I was in Ago Iwoye when the man with Yummy
decamped to APC. I congratulate your Excellency for this good choice of
these decampee.
It is not an exaggeration to
say that this Man is a leader of a community who should be in your camp
any day for your success. I am very sure his importance in your camp
cannot be over-emphasized. I can assure you that with the man in your
camp, you are sure to gain millions of followers.
But I was shocked to the marrow when after two or three weeks nothing was done for the man.
Your
Excellency Sir, it is my candid advice that you watch those claiming to
be loyal to you and advising you. Watch them very carefully and be
wary of their advice.
They are equally loyal to your political enemies from your party.
It
is advisable to have a serious and genuine meeting with transport union
members as a means of having them on your side before others who don’t
share the same belief hijack them from you. God bless Ogun State, God
bless Nigeria.
